In light of what happened in Parkland, Florida, this week’s episode of Thursday’s Theology is dedicated to sharing some of my thoughts on the issue of mass shootings and gun control.
I know that people are going to disagree with me. That’s okay. But I couldn’t stay silent on the issue. Student ministry is my life and I needed to say something about High School students losing their lives to needless violence.
If you disagree with me, that’s fine. Share your thoughts with me, push back on my opinion. Just be civil about it. My desire is to dialogue and not argue.
In Response to Parkland
Welcome to another episode of Thursday’s Theology!
“Thoughts and Prayers”
This week we are going to be talking about a couple of different things. First, we are going to talk about times where politicians, civic leaders, pastors and others use the phrase “our thoughts and prayers are with you.” We’ll be going through how that can sound extremely hollow sometimes and why.
Secondly, we are going to talk about what are called “petitionary prayers” and why they are an important aspect of prayer life.
As always, if you would like to join the conversation, don’t hesitate to ask questions, offer critiques, or seek clarification in the comment section below!
