How a Jr. High Girl Made Me Cry

I cried a couple of weeks ago, and it was because of what a Jr. High girl said to me. It wasn’t mean, or rude or anything like that, but because she spoke a word of encouragement to me that I didn’t know how much I needed. As I sat in the dining hall of a retreat center, surrounded by hundreds of others, I shared a moment with this Jr. High student that left me with tears in my eyes. Read More »

Anxiety & Mental Health

I struggle with anxiety. It has been something that I’ve struggled with for years, and it is only recently that I have sought professional help to understand the deeper issues behind it. What drove me to seek professional help is that I got to a point of recognizing that I couldn’t process through the anxiety on my own. I needed professional help to get at the root of what was going on. Read More »

What is Sin?

What is sin? Is it a list of things that we can’t do? Is it things that bring us shame? Or is it more than that?

This week’s episode is dedicated to answering the question “what is sin?” We explore how sin, at its core, gets in the way of our relationship with God. Sin and God cannot coexist in the same space.

Sorry that this week’s episode is late, but the upload on Thursday didn’t go through, so we are a little late, but nevertheless, enjoy this week’s episode!

Is the church simply a building that you go to?

Is it just a gathering of believers in one place?

Does going to a coffeeshop or listening to a sermon online count as church?

What is the church? This week on Thursday’s Theology, we discuss what the church is and reveal some things that we think about how the church functions.

Thursday’s Theology – Prayer Part V

Welcome to our 5th episode on prayer!

This week we talk about how theology is like watching a movie. Hearing from different people and their perspectives helps broaden our understanding of theology. There is beauty in the diversity of theological opinions.

Then we dive into how to be angry with God in our prayers. It is not taboo or forbidden, but an expression of our relationship with God. Anger is a natural part of any relationship, including our relationship with God. God desires us to be in full relationship, meaning the entire pantheon of emotion.

**By the way, I misspoke in the video, Habakkuk’s prophecy is right before the Babylonian exile, not the Assyrian.**

Let us know what you think!

Thursday’s Theology – Part IV

What’s up theology nerds!

Good Thursday to you all. A new Thursday means a new episode of Thursday’s Theology is up and running!

This week we are focusing specifically on Luke 18 and Jesus’ parable of the Tax Collector and the Pharisee. We are going to be discussing how Jesus uses two extreme examples, one righteous and one unrighteous, to prove a point about the hypocrisy of prayer.

In essence, prayer is meant to be a personal conversation with you and God, not done in public for your own self gratifications.

Check out this week’s episode to hear more!
And remember, theology doesn’t have to be complicated, it is simply the study of who God is.
